A belt marks a chapter in training—not the whole story. Progress is built through consistent, thoughtful practice.
There is no universal color order
Karate schools and organizations do not all use the same belt colors, stripes, or grading requirements. ISAN’s existing website lists eight colors, but exact current progression must be confirmed with the instructor.
Progress includes more than technique
Training can involve learning etiquette, practicing attentively, and working responsibly with others. A color should never be used as a shortcut for judging a person’s character or ability.
Ask your instructor about requirements
Your instructor is the right source for rank requirements, grading dates, and readiness. There is no fixed promise for how long it takes to reach black belt.
