HISTORY & PHILOSOPHY
Rooted in Okinawa.
Hard and soft. Strength and awareness.
Goju-Ryu is a traditional Okinawan karate style associated with Chojun Miyagi and the Naha-te tradition. Its name is commonly translated as “hard-soft style,” reflecting complementary approaches within the art.
A practice, not just a performance.
Technique grows through attention, repetition, and instruction. Kata, foundational movement, and etiquette connect physical practice with a disciplined learning environment. Study of history adds context, but it does not replace learning with an instructor.
Okinawan Kobudo
Kobudo refers to traditional weapon arts. Okinawan Kobudo is related to, but distinct from, empty-hand karate. Soke Marquez studied Kobudo with Okinawan masters. Weapons practice requires qualified instruction and appropriate safety measures.
